Electron Microscopic Observation of Biomineralization in Biomats from Hot Springs

Since June 29 through July 5, 1992, an exploration of geysers in Iceland has been conducted. Temperature and pH of the geyser were 12-90 degrees C, and 6-9 respectively. In addition, the biomats were sampled from 7 sites of 6 regions, and their microform, mineral composition, and chemical constituents were examined.
