Hestia-Phoenix: high resolution annual fossil fuel CO2 emissions in Phoenix-Mesa Urban Area, Arizona, USA, for the 2010-2022 time period

The Hestia-Phoenix fossil fuel carbon dioxide (FFCO2) emissions data version 1.0 represent anthropogenic CO2 emissions due to the combustion of fossil fuels for the Phoenix-Mesa urban domain, Arizona from 2010 to 2022. Hestia-Phoenix is the latest addition to the Hestia Project, an effort to estimate FFCO2 emissions at the scale of individual buildings, roadways, industrial facilities, and power plants. The emissions are quantified for both point and non-point sources for eight sectors: electricity production, airport, railroad, onroad, nonroad, residential, commercial, and industrial. The FFCO2 emissions made available here are a 100m x 100m raster representation of the original Hestia FFCO2 emissions (represented as point, line, and polygon entities). These gridded emissions are specific to sector and year and are in units of metric tons of carbon (tC) per grid cell per year. An annual FFCO2 emissions for Maricopa County is also provided. This product was developed as part of the Southwest Urban Corridor Integrated Field Laboratory (SW-IFL) project, which aims to provide new knowledge and tools that address extreme heat, air quality, climate change and related urban environmental issues by integrating high-resolution observations, modeling, and civic engagement.
