Isolation and Identification of Bifidobacterium species from feces of captive chimpanzee. Bifidobacterium pseudolongum

To date, only 4 known species of Bifidobacterium have been reported to occur in the guts of chimpanzees and we speculated that, like humans, chimpanzees would have a unique diversity of bifidobacteria. We here describe successful isolation of bifidobacteria from the feces of captive chimpanzees and clarify the taxonomic position of those isolates.
