Food, Alcohol and Tobacco During Pregnancy, 1984-1986

The prevention of birth complications and embryonic damage caused by dietary habits, alcohol and tobacco is given a high priority in many countries. A number of these countries have implemented health pedagogical schemes aimed at reducing smoking and the consumption of alcohol during pregnancy. #The purpose of this survey is to test a health pedagogical programme in a regional community (Odense). The programme will be evaluated as regards its pedagogical as well as its prophylactic effect. #The survey contains registrations of dietary habits, smoking and drinking habits, registrations of the frequency of relevant birth complications as well as of birthweight in the test area (Odense) and in the control area (Aalborg), both before and after the implementation of the health pedagogical programme. The data analysis will include aggregate data concerning the test part of the survey and data on individuals concerning the observational part of the survey. #The survey comprises approx. 8000 births and covers 3 years.
