Processed output from semi-idealized WRF (ARW v4.2.2) simulations of cold surge vortices over the Maritime Continent. Simulations were run at 9, 3, and 1 km horizontal grid spacing in a nested configuration, with initial and boundary conditions derived from ERA5 composites of boreal winter cold surge events. At 3 km, runs were performed both with and without cumulus parameterization. A terrain sensitivity experiment with island topography removed was also performed at 9 km.
