Multilayer social network data on Apostolic dissidents in the Bologna inquisition register (1291–1310): The dataset

This is a structured, machine-readable social network and prosopographical data derived from the Bologna inquisition register (1291–1310), documenting the Apostolic movement in north-central Italy. The dataset comprises four interlinked TSV files sharing a common UUID-based identifier system derived from CASTEMO (Computer-Assisted Semantic Text Modelling), which enables cross-table joins and the persistent referencing of entities: the table of interactions (interaction edges), kinships, incriminations (mentions in front of the inquisitors in an incriminating context), and persons (all individuals appearing as nodesin any of the three edge tables). The dataset allows various analyses, such as a dynamic network analysis of the incrimination network, spatial analysis of the places of interaction and their relation to suspects' residences, and multilayer network analysis of different kinds of interactions. It is one of the rare multilayer social network datasets published so far from medieval inquisition records.
