Mirror Figure Error data for Rubin Observatory Simonyi Survey Telescope
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains the surface figure error maps for the primary (M1), secondary (M2), and tertiary (M3) mirrors of the NSF-DOE Rubin Observatory Simonyi Survey Telescope 8.4 m telescope. These maps represent the as-measured residual surface deviations from the nominal optical prescription, after fabrication and polishing. The rms surface errors are 19.65 nm for M1, 20.08 nm for M3, and 7.24 nm for M2. Data Provenance M1M3 Surface Figure DataThe M1M3 mirror is a monolithic primary/tertiary substrate cast and polished at the Richard F. Caris Mirror Lab at the University of Arizona. The measurements used here derive from the surface metrology and acceptance testing documented in: H. M. Martin et al., “Manufacture and final tests of the LSST monolithic primary/tertiary mirror,”Proc. SPIE 9912, Ground-based and Airborne Telescopes VI, 99120X (2016). https://doi.org/10.1117/12.2234501 M2 Surface Figure DataThe Rubin Observatory M2 mirror was manufactured and polished by L3Harris Technologies, and the surface map included here is derived from the final optical acceptance measurements delivered by the vendor. The original laboratory interferometric measurements are reported as wavefront optical path difference (OPD). Since reflection doubles the phase error, we convert the values in this dataset to mechanical surface sag by dividing by two. Users requiring OPD for wavefront propagation should therefore multiply the maps by two: OPD(x,y) = 2 * sag(x,y) Original Source Files File Format Units Description m1_figure_error.h5 HDF5 microns (µm) Final wavefront optical path difference map for the M1 region of the M1M3 monolith. m3_figure_error.h5 HDF5 microns (µm) Final wavefront optical path difference map for the M3 region of the M1M3 monolith. m2_figure_error.mat MATLAB .mat nanometers (nm) Final wavefront optical path difference map for M2. Acknowledgments The mirror figure data used in this work were obtained during final acceptance testing of the Rubin Observatory Simonyi Survey Telescope optics. The M1M3 data were provided by the Richard F. Caris Mirror Lab at the University of Arizona, and the M2 data were provided by L3Harris Technologies. The processed versions included here are redistributed for research use.
