Effects of terrigenous dissolved organic matter (tDOM) input in coastal waters.

A mesocosm experiment was conducted from May 3rd to 21st, 2021 in the Mediterranean coastal Thau Lagoon (France) at the MEDIMEER infrastructure. Six mesocosms were immersed in the lagoon and filled simultaneously using six pipelines with 2200 L of water from a 1000 μm screened pool of lagoon water sampled at 1 m depth using a pump. Three mesocosms served as controls, while in three others maturated soil was added in day 1 to simulate a terrestrial runoff event. Changes in microbial community structure under different treatment conditions were analyzed using shallow shotgun metagenomic sequencing.
