US Federal Procurement Solicitation Notices from fedbizopps.gov, 2007-2019

Universe of procurement solicitation notices ("contract opportunities") posted by US federal agencies on the website www.fedbizopps.gov between 2007 and 2019. The data is published by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) through the System for Award Management (SAM.gov). <br>The data were downloaded from sam.gov in April 2020. As of August 2025, downloading these records is possible through the following URL:<br>https://sam.gov/data-services/Contract%20Opportunities/daily/historical<br><br>Note, however, that it is possible that the files have been updated, reorganized, or changed since our download. <br>The deposit has the following structure:<br>├── raw_daily_xml_files/├── csv_files_notice_type/├── code/<br>The `raw_daily_xml_files/` directory consists of 13 .zip files, one for each calendar year from 2007 to 2019. Uncompressing all of them will generate 4692 daily files with all types of notices. These files were downloaded using the `code/sam_gov_downloader.py`script, and saved following the naming convention `YYYYMMDD.txt`. They contain data in `xml` tree structure.<br>The script `sam_gov_extractor_v4.py` reads the 4692 raw daily files, transforms them into csv format, and saves them into 12 different csv files, one for each notice type. The resulting datasets are named `csv_files_notice_type/sam_gov_results_$NOTICETYPE_1590644804.csv`, where $NOTICETYPE is one of the following: AMDCSS, ARCHIVE, AWARD, COMBINE, ITB, JA, MOD, PRESOL, SNOTE, SRCSGT, SSALE, and UNARCHIVE.<br>The code to download and transform the data into csv format was written by Rodrigo Carril (Universitat Pompeu Fabra) and Andres Gonzalez-Lira (Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile).
