资源简介:
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the world, affecting countries across a wide socioeconomic spectrum. In 2020, a report made available by the Global Cancer Observatory listed the types of cancer with the highest number of cases across the globe, among which gastric cancer stands out as the fifth leading cause of death from cancer with a total of one million cases. diagnosed each year, being the fifth most diagnosed cancer and the seventh in prevalence. In 2020, Brazil already had more than eighty thousand cases of gastric cancer diagnosed. In recent years, the municipality of Missal Parana, in the western region of the state of Parana, has shown an increase in the number of records in outpatient oncological procedures in recent years, causing neoplasms to occupy the second position in the population incidence table and mortality in the municipality. The age groups from 50 to 64 years old, and from 20 to 29, stand out with the highest prevalence in terms of the presence and mortality from neoplasms.Considering that the municipality was colonized, mostly by descendants of Germans from Rio Grande do Sul, which is the Brazilian state with the largest number of cities where cancer is the first cause of death, oncological illness in this population can be significantly influenced by their genetic makeup. In addition to the genetic issue, it is worth adding that the municipality of Missal is a reference in agriculture and has a lifestyle that contributes to the emergence of some types of cancer, as they favor exposure to risk factors, such as pesticides, whether in a acute or continuous. When diagnosed early, most gastric tumors can be surgically removed, resulting in the patient's cure and directing the individual's family to prevention through genetic counseling. In this context, it is essential to establish genetic mechanisms that assist in the prevention and early diagnosis of individuals predisposed to the disease, since early and accurate diagnosis contributes to the choice of treatment by the health professional and leads to an increase in survival of patients who are in higher risk groups.Based on the data presented, this project aimed to contribute information on the profile of oncological illness due to Hereditary Gastric Cancer Syndrome in the Missal population, as well as identify the pathogenic variants associated with it and identify the profile of patients in the population. The identification of these factors can provide data to municipal management for the development of policies for the prevention and pre-symptomatic detection of hereditary gastric cancer, to better address this situation.
