The Light Italian Cubesat for Imaging of Asteroids (LICIACube) was a 6U cubesat that operated alongside the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission. LICIACube’s mission was to image the Didymos system and specifically the immediate aftermath of DART’s impact with Dimorphos. In order to obtain scientifically-meaningful imagery, navigation teams were employed to track, predict, and adjust LICIACube’s trajectory throughout its operational phase. This paper provides results and analysis from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s LICIACube Navigation Team’s experience with this mission with a focus on the aspects of this mission that made it unique from a navigation perspective.
