资源简介:
The data set includes quality-controlled, 1-decibar vertically interpolated Seaglider observations of water column temperature and salinity profiles in the upper 1000 m, and depth averaged currents in the Lofoten Basin of the Norwegian Sea. The data set is presented in Yu et al. (2017, doi:10.1002/2017JC012982, The Lofoten Basin Eddy: Three years of evolution as observed by Seagliders. J. Geophys. Res. Oceans). The observations were provided by the Norwegian Atlantic Current Observatory (NACO) and the data set is prepared and used in the ProVoLo project (Watermass transformation processes and vortex dynamics in the Lofoten Basin of the Norwegian Sea), both funded by the Norwegian Research Council. The glider raw data were processed using the University of East Anglia.Seaglider toolbox(http://bitbucket.org/bastienqueste/uea-seaglider-toolbox). Outputs from the toolbox are separated into dives and climbs and vertically interpolated at a regular 1decibar interval. Further hard limits on salinity and temperature were applied to exclude and interpolate outliers.Conservative Temperature and Absolute Salinity measurements were compared to available hydrographic data managed by the Institute of Marine Research in Bergen, Norway. Absolute Salinity was corrected by a small constant offset obtained by a least-squares fitting of the glider data between 700 m and 1000 m to reference linear T/S relationship corresponding to the mixing line between the Atlantic Water and the deep waters below 700 m. The Conservative Temperature and Absolute Salinity data were converted back to temperature at ITS-90 scale and salinity at the practical salinity scale for archiving.
