"Bersaba: Br. Gericke m. kaffrischem Dolmetscher." ("Bersheba: Br[other] Gericke w[ith] Kaffir interpreter."). The picture shows a man of African origin in the center and a man of European origin. The old man wears a big hat. He rests on a wooden stick. The man of European origin wears a light colored jacket and is seen from the side. In the background a tree. Written on the card board: "P. Theile, 1934."; Bersheba is a village near Enon. -- Friedrich Wilhelm Gericke (1868-1944) was a missionary in Labrador from 1896 to 1907 and in South Africa (Genadendal, Elim and Enon) from 1909 to 1935.
