Does the optimal size and density of electrodes depend on the brain region recorded? To help address this question, we collected a survey of recordings with an ultra-high density array of 255 extracellular electrodes (5 x 5 μm and spacing of 1 μm) during urethane anesthesia from many different rat brain areas (cortex, hippocampus, thalamus, cerebellum and striatum).
