资源简介:
This project reports the first whole genome sequencing of Macrosporum canis, a dermatophyte fungus, isolated from the skin of a human patient in Karbala province, Iraq. M. canis is a keratinophilic filamentous fungus known to cause dermatophytosis in humans and animals, particularly tinea corporis and tinea capitis. It is classified among the zoophilic dermatophytes and is of medical significance due to its pathogenicity and increasing resistance to antifungal drugs. The isolate was obtained from a confirmed clinical case and identified through morphological and molecular methods. Genomic DNA was extracted and sequenced using high-throughput next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies. This represents the first reported whole genome of M. canis from Iraq, contributing valuable genomic data for comparative analysis, antifungal resistance research, and epidemiological studies. This genome resource enhances our understanding of dermatophyte biology and may support future investigations into virulence factors, host adaptation, and antifungal resistance mechanisms in Macrosporum canis.
