Potato transgenerational microbial memory

Potato seed tubers provide a nutrient-rich habitat for soil-borne microbes, some of which 6 can positively or negatively impact the performance of the emerging daughter plant in the 7 next season. In this study, we investigated the transgenerational inheritance of microbiota 8 from seed tubers to next-season daughter plants by amplicon sequencing of bacterial and 9 fungal microbiota associated with tubers and roots of two seed potato genotypes produced 10 in six different fields.
