Bacterial community profiling of mangrove sediments from multiple coastal sites in Taiwan

This study characterizes bacterial community composition in mangrove sediment ecosystems from coastal regions of Taiwan using Illumina-based 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing. Sediment samples were collected from Dapeng Bay (Pingtung County), Sicao Wildlife Refuge (Tainan City), and Yuanzhonggang Wetland Park (Nanzih District, Kaohsiung City). The objective of this study is to profile microbial diversity and identify bacterial taxa with potential roles in hydrocarbon metabolism and ecological functioning within mangrove sediments. The generated dataset provides insights into microbial community structure across geographically distinct mangrove environments and supports future environmental microbiology research.
