Galapagos tortoises carapace microbiome

In this study we identify the bacterial diversity found in the carapace of three differentGalapagos giant tortoise species and showcase the influence that the fungal lesionscaused by A. galopagosensis have on the bacterial populations of the carapace. This is significantbecause it offers novel insights into the ecological relationships between fungi, bacteria, andGalapagos tortoise hosts, which might be a key step for monitoring their health in the future.
