The overlooked impact of extreme soil heating events on microbial communities and biota-mediated ecosystem functions: A climate change blind spot

This is a collection of soil surface and air temperature data from the UK, Portugal and the Atacama desert demonstrating the differences between soil and air temperature extremes that occur during rapid on-set extreme heat stress events. During these events, soil surfaces can exceed 40 degrees Celcius, and as such is a key focus of our review paper.
