L'impresa di Fiume vista dal Salento: società civile, legionari e fascisti di fronte alla prova generale della marcia su Roma

The conquest of Fiume from Gabriele D'Annunzio in September 1919 marks a sensational sign in the Italian political practise. This exploit creates a dangerous precedent and it exactly legitimates other similar actions, as it will be the March on Rome in October 1922. Objectives of this study are, on the one hand the analysis of the welcome given by the public Salentina opinion to D'Annunzio's gesture and to the revolutionary hypothesis resulting from that gesture; on the other hand the research on the political and trade-union role acted by the Fiumani legionaries in the agitated years that see the success of the fascism in the province of Lecce.
