Cervicovaginal virome alterations associated with cervical cancer risk factors

Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is a significant risk factor for cervical cancer. While the link between the vaginal bacterial microbiome and HPV infection has been well established, the role of the vaginal virome has not yet been investigated. With the virome composing a significant part of the microbiome, it is important to investigate its influence on pathogenesis and human health. In this study, we investigated the relationship between the vaginal virome and risk factors for cervical cancer.
