Escherichia coli ET8 Raw sequence reads. Escherichia coli str. K-12 substr. W3110 isolate:ET8

E. coli ET8, expressing Gloeobacter rhodopsin from pKJ606-GR plasmid, exhibits a rhodopsin-based phototrophic metabolism. ET8 was isolated after 88 days of chemostat culture with constant illumination with limited glucose as the sole carbon source. Unlike E. coli ET5, ET8 has a longer cell size and it was fractionated using an 8-µm pore size filter. This study is to elucidate how cells optimize their newly acquired phototrophic metabolims by the rise of mutations.
