Characterizing the relationship between stress levels, gut microbiota and brain connectivity in healthy young men

This was a cross-sectional study which aimed to characterize the relationship between gut microbiota composition, stress levels and brain connectivity in healthy men from Colombia. To do so, we analyzed gut microbiota from stool samples by sequencing the V3-V4 hypervariable regions of the 16S rRNA gene, we collected functional and structural brain magnetic resonance images and measured stress using anthropometric, physiological, biochemical biomarkers as well as by means of stress scales.
