Latex transcriptome of the Hevea brasiliensis rubber tree

The Hevea brasiliensis rubber tree is a major source of natural rubber (cis-polyisoprene). Latex consists of cytoplasm in which rubber is the main component. Second generation sequences were generated using total RNA isolated from latex of rubber trees growing under normal field conditions. The aim was to achieve a deeper coverage of genes expressed in latex that what was previously achieved with Sanger ESTs.
