The 6-month outlooks are informed by North American Multi-Model Ensemble (NMME) data and issued as .pdfs on or about the second Monday of each month with the month-by-month forecasts beginning at the start of the following month. Please contact us directly to have a product sample emailed to you. There is no ability to push .pdf samples to the Datarade site. The month-by-month outlooks include discussions on large-scale weather phenomena impacting the particular growing location(s) with specific focus on expected temperatures and precipitation amounts as well as the potential for extreme weather events during the upcoming 6-month period. The North American Multi-Model Ensemble (NMME) is an experimental multi-model seasonal forecasting system consisting of coupled models from US modeling centers including NOAA/NCEP, NOAA/GFDL, IRI, NCAR, NASA, and Canada's CMC. The multi-model ensemble approach has proven extremely effective at quantifying prediction uncertainty due to uncertainty in model formulation, and has proven to produce better prediction quality (on average) than any single model ensemble. This multi-model approach is the basis for several international collaborative prediction research efforts, including an operational European system. There are numerous examples of how this multi-model ensemble approach yields superior forecasts compared to any single model.
