Testing the SNR connection of TeV gamma-ray sources discovered by H.E.S.S.
收藏资源简介:
During a scan of the Galactic plane performed in 2004, H.E.S.S. (the currentlymost sensitive TeV telescope) has discovered a new class of so far unidentifiedTeV gammaray sources. We propose to use XMM to perform followup observationson a set of four of these sources, which have plausible associations with knownSupernova remnants. The large sensitivity of XMM and its energy range up to 15keV are required to provide a detailed view of the morphology of thesurroundings of the TeV sources. This will allow us either to prove that thespatial coincidences of the gammaray sources and the Supernova remnants are ofphysical origin, or else to discover and identify the yet unknown counterpartsof the TeV sources. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
