Whole-genome shotgun sequencing of the salivary microbiome in 10-year-old children from the WHEALS cohort

This study includes whole-genome shotgun sequencing data from saliva samples collected from 38 ten-year-old children in the WHEALS birth cohort. The goal was to characterize the salivary microbiome and explore its relationship with childhood overweight and obesity. DNA was extracted from saliva, and sequencing was performed using the Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform with 2x150 bp paired-end reads. Human reads were removed prior to submission. These data can be used for taxonomic, functional, and antimicrobial resistance profiling of the oral microbiome in children.
