This dataset accompanies a paper titled Detection of Metallic Objects in Mineralised Soil Using Magnetic Induction Spectroscopy. The detection of small metallic objects buried in mineralised soil poses a challenge for metal detectors, especially when the response from the metallic objects is orders magnitude below the response from the soil. This dataset contains data from a new detector based on Magnetic Induction Spectroscopy (MIS). Experimental results consisting of 1,669 passes across either buried objects or empty soil are presented. In total 14 different objects were buried at 3 different depths, in three soil types including non-mineralised and mineralised soils.
