The Sol Ring Dataset is a collection of 307 reference frames for benchmarking Magic: The Gathering card identification, specifically focusing on edition (set) discrimination under real-world camera conditions. The dataset is designed to provide a meaningful, reproducible metric for measuring and comparing the accuracy of card recognition algorithms, with particular emphasis on set / edition identification rather than just card-name recognition. It includes frames from 21 distinct printings of the Sol Ring card, each bearing the same artwork but from different editions. The frames were captured under varied lighting, angles, and minor motion blur conditions, and are temporally ordered to simulate live-camera evaluations. The dataset also includes metadata for each frame, such as corner coordinates for dewarping and set information.
