Dissecting the Roles of Nr6a1 at Early Stages of Mouse Hindlimb Development

This thesis investigated how the body begins to build the hindlimb during early development. It focused on a gene called Nr6a1, which helps organise important signals that guide normal leg development and support early limb patterning. In this study, deletion of Nr6a1 in a mouse model led to the hindlimb not forming properly, with clear changes in its growth, position and shape during development. The findings show that Nr6a1 plays an indispensable role at early stages of hindlimb development, highlighting how early genetic instructions help shape normal limbs and how their disruption can affect limb formation before birth in mammals.
