VPRS 9930 Correspondence Files (Power Plant and Equipment Supply)

This series consists correspondence files and contracts for the construction of electricity supply plants created by the Melbourne Electric Supply Company (MES Co.).MES Co. was registered in London from 1900 to 1937 and traded in the supply of electricity until 1930. These files contain originals and copies of inward correspondence from London companies. The correspondence appears to have been forwarded from the London office of MES Co. to the local manager F.W. Clement.The correspondence mostly concerns the negotiations to sign or modify contracts and includes the actual contracts (and specifications). Each contract sets out the administrative and technical conditions for construction of a particular installation. The technical conditions included any drawings or site plans necessary for the information of the contractor.
