The aim of the current study was to gain more insight in the nectar microbial communities of pome fruit trees. We addressed the following research questions: (1) Does the bacterial community of the floral nectar of 'Jonagold' apple and 'Conference' pear differ and (2) how does the bacterial community change during flowering time, (3) are these changes fruit species dependent, and (4) is similarity on bacterial communities among different orchards related to their geographical distance?
