FILE: Oceanographic station data from German research vessels

This file consists of Classical oceanographic bottle stations (57,400
stations), including hydrochemicals (about 15 percent). Oceanographic data at
discrete depth levels are mainly from Nansen or other bottle casts. The
principal parameters are T, S and partially recorded hydrochemicals O2, P, PO4,
SiO2, N, NO2, NO3, pH, NH4, H2S, alkalinity and chlorophyll-a as well as
corresponding meteorological information. Derived parameters are computed.
These data are mainly from the North Sea and Baltic Sea (though there are some
global data), and cover cruises from 1873 to the present.

FILE: CTD/STD-data

This consists of 8,900 CTD/STD casts. These data are mainly from the North Sea
and Baltic Sea (though there are some global data), and cover cruises from 1979
to the present.

FILE: Sea surface salinity and/or temperature data

This file consists of surface salinity & temperature from 207,900 stations.
These data are mainly from the North Sea and Baltic Sea (though there are some
global data), and cover from 1877 to the present.

FILE: Phytoplankton

This file consists of phytoplankton data from the North Sea (FLEX, 1976), taken
at 434 stations.
