The Burden of Disease study uses methods developed originally for the GlobalBurden of Disease study refined and adapted to the Victorian context. Itprovides a comprehensive assessment of the amount of ill health in Victoria,Australia, measured in disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) arising frommost diseases and injuries.Expectancy at birth in 2001 is the expected average life span of a child bornin 2001; if prevailing mortality rates would continue indefinitely into thefuture.
