VPRS 10595 Industrial Court Register

These registers were used to record cases heard at the Melbourne Metropolitan Industrial Court. Cases concerning industrial matters such as failure to provide industrial safety equipment, trading beyond legal hours, employment of a child, failure to pay long service/leave payments etc will be found within these registers.The Registers record case number, name of the informant (usually the inspector of factories and shops), name of the accused or defendant, a description of the charge, and the decision or order and any remarks. The column for remarks was often used to record the payment of fines and fees.In order to authenticate entries made in the register, the magistrate of the court signed the register at the end of each day.
