Accompanying Materials to Smith et al (2026) "Eavesdropping with Distributed Acoustic Sensing: Audio and Speech Detection on Fibre-optic Cables"

This notebook accompanies the manuscript 'Eavesdropping with Distributed Acoustic Sensing: Audio and Speech Detection on Fibre-optic Cables' by Smith et al. (2026). It provides minimal code (ManuscriptAccompaniment.ipynb) to access and visualise parts of the data acquired and analysed in the study. The audio segments provided are in .npy format and are 120 seconds long at their respective sampling frequencies, as denoted in their filenames. They begin with some frequency chirps and tones, before transitioning to the speech segments that were the focus of the study. The original audio used in playback tests is also provided as a .wav file.
