This dataset is a statistical table of post-1949 planted forests and four-side trees (trees planted along roads, waterways, villages and farmlands) from the first national Category I Forest Inventory. It includes statistics on the area and standing timber volume of planted forests grouped by forest age classes (young stands, middle-aged stands, mature stands, and ungrouped stands), bamboo forest area, area of young afforestation sites, number of four-side trees, standing timber volume of four-side trees across 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government in Southwest China, Northwest China, Central-South China, East China, North China, Northeast China and Taiwan Province, as well as the national economic forest area.
