资源简介:
Data for this experiment was collected around 4:00 pm on Tuesday September 20, 2015 in a woodlot on York University's Keele campus. It was a hot and sunny day, but the woodlot was cooler and shady due to the cover of the trees. A transect measuring tape was laid down from the edge of the woodlot to the center. It was walked along until an adult tree (one with a diameter of 0.2 m or greater) was found within two meters of the transect, on either side. The tree's diameter at breast height (DBH) was then measured using another transect measuring tape. The tree was then assigned a condition rating of 0, 1 or 2: 0 being dead (no branches with leaves), 1 being alive, but with limited growth (three or less branches with leaves), and 2 being very healthy (more than three branches with leaves). Following this, the experimenter returned to the transect and walked along it until the next closest adult tree. The tree had its DBH measured and also assigned a condition rating, both performed using the same methods and conditions as the previous. A transect tape was then used to measure the distance between the two adult trees. When measuring, the transect tape was placed at breast height along the inner-most part of the tree trunks. This experimental data was collected for 10 pairs of trees.
