Whole-genome sequencing was used to study community-associated outbreaks of pneumonia and bacteremia occurred in Manitoba, Canada during 2008-2011 caused by pneumococci 12F-CC218, through comparison with historical US 12F outbreaks and non-outbreak 12F survey strains. The main goal is to track the origin, transmission and evolution of 12F outbreak isolates.
