The purpose of this remote sensing project focusing on Chaco Canyon National Monument in northwestern New Mexico was two-fold. The first objective was to determine the capabilities of various types of remotely sensed data and interpretive instruments in delineating cultural features such as prehistoric roads. The second objective was to explore the extent and character on the ruin of Pueblo Alto, one of the major ruins in the monument. In addition, we offer suggestions for future research on the road system of Chaco Canyon and the ruin of Pueblo Alto.
