Environmental microbe capture via selective enrichment. soil metagenome

The study aimed to evaluate the effect of a in situ microbial capture system tested in a soil environment. The system uses nutrient release pills coupled to a capture substrate that attracts microorganisms from the greater environment through chemotaxis or diffusion. The study seeks to investigate whether the capture system is able to reduce the complexity of the microbial community from the original environment and if this has an effect on the sequence quality and assembly statistics from the resultant metagenome.
