资源简介:
The Patterson Creek Park Pavilion was built by the Ottawa Improvement Commission in 1923. The Pavilion is currently used as a public washroom and storage space, while the park and surrounding area serves as a dog park. It is located along the Queen Elizabeth Driveway and Linden Terrace, next to the Rideau Canal. The land, along with the canal beside it, is now currently owned by the NCC. The Patterson Creek Pavilion is a recognized Federal Heritage Building, while the Rideau Canal adjacent to the pavilion is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This report will address the potential historic and heritage value of the pavilion and the park, while simultaneously evaluating the state of the structure and its surrounding landscape. The park boundary that was used for the purpose of this report starts at the bridge along Queen Elizabeth Driveway and follows Patterson Creek on both sides of the creek until it reaches the bridge at O'Connor Street. One side of the park borders on the Linden Terrace, whereas the other side borders along private properties. The purpose of this dossier is to outline our recorded work contribution towards Patterson Creekand Pavilion. It will highlight ways in which the interaction between the public and the creek has added to the heritage value of the site. The information collected from the assessment will allow us to properly understand this heritage site as an important cultural landscape in Ottawa. This is the Integrated Project Dossier compiled by a group of undergraduate students of the Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Program (Engineers and architects) at Carleton University for the CIVE3207 (ARCN4100) Historic Site Recording and Assessment course in 2019.
