Floods in Afghanistan, 2024

Since March 2024, Afghanistan has experienced heavy rains. Major flood damage has been reported in several provinces with extensive and severe impacts on agriculture and irrigation infrastructures. The Data in Emergencies (DIEM) team at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) examined satellite images in the days following the April–May 2024 floods, conducted a community level survey in May–June and conducted a DIEM-Monitoring household survey in September 2024 to understand both the immediate and longer impacts of continuous floods.
