Base Saturation on Growth and on Nutrition of Yellow Ipê Seedlings

ABSTRACT Yellow ipê (Tabebuia serratifolia) is a forest species with wood potential, but little used in forest plantations because of the lack of information about their production both in the nursery and in the field. Therefore, an experiment was conducted in order to verify the effects of liming on growth and nutrition of T. serratifolia. The lime was mixed with soil dystrophic Red Oxisol with sand loam texture in plastic bags with capacity of 2.5kg. The treatments were in a completely randomized design with five repetitions: control 26.5%; 60%; 70%; 80% e 100% base saturation. After 120 days, were evaluated: height, stem diameter, height and diameter relation, dry biomass and Dickson quality index. The dried plants were submitted to determination of macronutrients content. The better results for growth of T. serratifolia were observed on the level of 70%, mainly because N, K, Ca and Mg were available in adequate concentrations, allowing the increase.
