VPRS 15560 Statements of the History of Titles, Section 7 Amending Land Act 1865

The statements in this series set out the history of a title from the registration of the first Crown grant until the date of the statement. The name of the original grantee is given as is the date of the registration of the title with a brief description of the land. All subsequent transfers of the title are then given with the final confirmation of the applicant as the current title holder to the land in question. These statements may be certified by the Registrar-General's Department (VA 2889) or the Commissioner of Titles Office (VA 2926) or by a solicitor as the applicant's representative as provided for under Regulations .Section 23 of the Land Act 1862 allowed for selection to be made by existing landholders providing certain conditions were able to be met. Section 24 of that Act stated that one of the those conditions was the provision of the history of the title of the land. Section 7 of the Amending Land Act 1865 extended these rights of selection further with the same condition of the provision of a statement of the title history.Applications made under Section 7 Amending Land Act 1865 may be found in VPRS 852 whilst VPRS 834 Assignment of Rights of Selection, Section 7 Amending Land Act 1865 contains applications where title and leases previously acquired had been assigned to a different individual.VPRS 15560/P1 was previously registered as Unit 7A of VPRS 849 Certificates of Title.
