资源简介:
Whiteleg or vennamei shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei, is one of the fastest growingaquaculture species globally occupying 80% of the global shrimp market share.Several countries including Viet Nam, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Ecuador areproducing vannamei shrimp. In Bangladesh, after successful piloting it has beenintroduced commercially due to growing pressure especially from industries tostart cultivation of vannamei shrimp. The main reason behind this pressure is thatthe black tiger shrimp (Peneasus monodon) has not been able to meet the demandof domestic and international markets leaving many shrimp processing factorieswith shortages of raw materials supply. Thus, there is a great potential forcommercial cultivation of vannamei shrimp because of the vast aquatic resourcesin Bangladesh and the weather of the country suits well for this species. However, the health of aquatic animals to be cultivated in an aquatic environment largelydepends on the microbial diversity in those animals and the environment as well. The long-term sustainability of vannamei shrimp production in Bangladesh, thus, depends on the microbial community in shrimp gut and gill as well as in cultureenvironment including water and soil. Thus, the study was designedto investigate the microbial diversity in shrimp and culture environment throughmetagenomic approach.
