These data files for a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) project by Texas A&M Transportation Insitute and Georgia Tech Research Corporations include ambient and in-cab air quality data for large diesel trucks in multiple operational modes. The testing was designed to cover the various possible modes (termed as test scenarios) a truck would operate under at a truck stop, which includes parked with the engine turned off (defined as the baseline for testing purposes), idling the main truck engine, or operating an Idle Reduction Technology (IRT) (Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) or Fuel Operated Heater (FOH)). Depending on ambient conditions, the truck engine or IRT would provide heating or cooling to the truck cab. Thus, some of the test scenarios may also have an associated operational mode, a cooling mode (during ambient temperatures of 100°F), and/or a heating mode (during ambient temperatures of 32°F).
