Vegetative mycelial spread of strains from the Phialocephala fortinii s.l. - Acephala applanata species complex (PAC) was investigated using colonized tree roots and inoculated peat:vermiculite as source and PAC-free saplings as baits. ITS2 metabarcoding of soil samples from the transmission zone in-between further confirmed the presence of PAC in the transmission zone.
