Code from Fashion and art cycles are driven by counter-dominance signals of elite competition: quantitative evidence from music styles

This code file contains the main MatLab functions to reproduce the results of the paper. The function “FashionCycleTests” computes the three hypothesis tests for theories of cultural change. The urn models are contained in the functions “FashionCycleUrn_Neutral”, “FashionCycleUrn_ST”, “FashionCycleUrn_RPT”, and “FashionCycleUrn_CDS” compute the Pólya urn models in the neutral, ST, RPT, and CDS variant, respectively. The required data input for these functions and their output is described within the code files.
