Maduramicin is an outstanding polyether ionophore antibiotic, which is extensively used for controlling coccidiosis in poultry. Previously literature reported numerous intoxications in farm animals because of its relative narrow safety range. Heart and skeletal muscles have been identified as the main target organs of toxicity. To date, there is no systematic study on toxicity mechanisms of maduramicin in chicken. Primary chicken myocardial cells exposed to high concentration of maduramicin were used for RNA-seq and bio-information analysis in this study.
